Post by: Ocicat on May 27, 2017, 01:19:02 AM
PodCastle Miniature 98: Traveling Mercies (http://podcastle.org/2017/05/26/podcastle-miniature-98-traveling-mercies/)

by Rachael K Jones
read by Khaalidah Muhammed-Ali
First published in Strange Horizons (http://strangehorizons.com/fiction/traveling-mercies/).

Rated PG.

In the old stories, strangers at the door could be disguised gods, so you had to invite them in. It was a sin to turn away a guest.

Atithi devo bhava. Sanskrit: the guest is God.

I am not God, though I am old.

As someone who travels a lot, I felt a special connection to this story. Loved it.

I thought this was a nice take on the vampire,  I do wonder how she eats, or should I say who.
