PseudoPod 635: Last Week I Was Esther (http://pseudopod.org/2019/02/15/pseudopod-635-last-week-i-was-esther/)

Author: Deborah L. Davitt (http://pseudopod.org/people/deborah-l-davitt/)
Narrator: John Bell (http://pseudopod.org/people/john-bell/)
Host: Alasdair Stuart (http://pseudopod.org/people/alasdair-stuart/)

PseudoPod 635: Last Week I Was Esther is a PseudoPod original.

Last week, I was Esther. I remember her plump face, pearl earrings, and huge handbag, stuffed with treats for her grandchildren—as stuffed as she was inside, with sweetmeats and perfumed memories of the postwar years. I’ve tended to pursue older people for a while, with their minds full of experiences. Dementia patients don’t work, though. When I’m them, I’m even more confused as to who I am, than I usually feel.

And then we get hungry again.

Thank you for such a lovely reading. I normally have great difficulty listening to other people read my words. :)

I thought this was pretty interesting. I was expecting some kind of alien, not a theological sentence of possessions, so that was neat, and I liked the dilemma of choosing strong personalities in order to give order to the sea of souls, yet not so strong as to, er, steer the ship off course.  And the wife-personality being lonely, and the husband recognizing her selfishness for what it was as he was taken over -- all good stuff.
