Title: Horizons expanded- one girl's thanks to Escape Pod
Post by: vetstudentjenn on January 12, 2008, 02:00:33 AM
My horizons have expanded. I didn't think I wanted them expanded. But, now that the possibilities in my world are so large, I am glad. This happiness in my life is due to Escape Pod. So, to Steve and Ana Ely, and all of the many support staff, I say thank you.

I am an sf convert. It happened late in my life- I was 28 when I was forced by circumstance to take a class on the "Literature of Science Fiction" at UC Davis. Colin Milburn was so excited about the subject matter, I couldn't help but give it a chance. Then, a year later, I stumbled upon Escape Pod on iTunes. Took me about 3 weeks to get through all of the archived episodes (while I was suffering through my second semester in veterinary school!). Through EP, I was introduced to Mur Lafferty, Mike Resnick, and the idea of podcasted fiction.

My life is so much brighter with a story. I am a happier person. Thanks, EP!

Sincerely,

Wait until you read through the forums and read all of the great suggestions people make.  It's a really amazing group of folks.  You can ask about almost anything SF/H/F and get an intelligent response within a day or two.

well, you have to wade through mountains of zombie jokes and pictures of cute pets to get to the intelligent response but that should be worth it ;-)
