Hey all!
Just wanted to let everyone know how things are going to work for this. We have 14 stories for you. Midnightish Sunday (or is it Monday at that point?) I'm going to start shooting them out to you via yousendit. You can go ahead, grab the stories there, download 'em, put them on your .mp3 players, and brag to all your friends how you have stories that they don't. I'll be sending you all one story a day for your listening enjoyment, until they're all gone. Some are short, some shorter, some are slightly longer than short. Whatever the case, I hope you savor them all like the little tricks or treats that they are.
If you believe you're on the list and you don't get a notification when the files go out (and I'll post here when they do go out), then let me know ASAP.
Any questions? Let me know below! :)

Whoo! On the 1st Day of Halloween, DKT gave to me...
-
Just a quick update to say the stories will start rolling out tomorrow at midnight (Monday/Tuesday). Sorry for the slight delay!

Whoo! On the 1st Day of Halloween, DKT gave to me...
"A Hobson and an introduction by me!"
Ahem. Just be glad I didn't actually sing that in the first two files I sent out. Hope you all enjoy the story.
-
Just gots my first files -- awesome! Nice intro, Dave.
-
Got the first story! Woohoo!
-
;D
Unfortunately, I've found out that at least one person didn't get an email notification about the files. I'm trying to figure out how that happened, but if it happened to anyone else, either shoot me a PM or email me.
-
Great first story by M.K and Al! I really look forward to this daily dose of awesomeness.
-
Mine got shunted into the spam filter, but was there...
-
I got the email and downloaded it this morning. Yay!
I haven't had a chance to load it up on my iPod yet--hopefully after work today.

For those of you who may be looking at this thread with envy or sadness at missing out, or if you just want more October stories (filthy junkies), Widget Walls is running his annual 32 Days of Halloween over at needcoffee.com (http://www.needcoffee.com), where your not only get audio stories every day from people like Poe, Lovecraft, Irving, Jacobs, Shakespeare, and even Walls himself, but he has other Halloween goodies as well. Check it out.

And for our next trickster: Anna Schwind!!!
HELP ME!
(The file has been sent!)
-
Holy crap, Dave... a .wav file? SRSLY?
-
Yeah, sorry about that. About half the people on the list got a .wav. If you want, stePH, I'll shoot you the .mp3. All the other stories are .mp3 files.
(Anyone else who wants Hobson's story as an .mp3, shoot me an email.)

I already threw it into Audacity and coverted it. MediaMonkey wouldn't recognize the .WAV for some reason (it usually has no problem with .WAVs.)

Alrighty, #3 by David Steffen (who I think occasionally frequents this forum) has gone out. Don't slip in the blood.
-
Yahooo! These are awesome. Great way to start the day. They last just long enough to have a cup of coffee while listening.
I'm looking forward to the rest. Thanks!
-
Tina Connolly's gives the old game some new rules this time around - and kind of starts a change in tone and pace for the next few. Enjoy!
-
Nice pic you put in Tina's one Dave.
-
I'm enjoying these, what a great idea! :) (I haven't loaded Tina's story on my player yet, but will this afternoon)
-
Ten was a (ready for it) TEN! Great story. Thanks!
-
Thanks for the stories! They are downloading as .wav files, but open just fine in iTunes. I am having to change them from "music" to "podcasts" so I can find them on my iPod to listen to. I've got the hang of it now. ;D

Are they all downloading as .wav files? I know we kind of slipped up with some of the Hobson stories, but I think everything else should be coming through as .mp3s?
Glad it's working and you're enjoying them :)

For what it's worth, only "The Trouble with Clocks" was a .wav for me (not an issue - I'll convert it when I get a moment), the rest have all been MP3s.
I'm glad I decided to check my email yesterday!

Help! I have tried getting both Anna Schwind and David Steffen's stories, but YouSendIt gives me the following message:
"The person who sent you this file has exceeded their download limit"
Eep!
-
I as well...
Late to the party as usual, I find the buffet devestated. :P

+1.

Just a note to let everyone know I've heard about the problem, and will try and get it fixed tonight.
-
YAY! someone who is on top of things like this.
it was #4 & 5 on my end though. :(

Ah, yes, those are the ones I meant. Didn't bother to check back before plus-one-ing on Maplesugar's post.
-
D'aaw download limit exceeded?? I can't hear any of the stories /sob
-
Alright, everyone. We should be back in business. I'll shoot out a batch of stories to you all tonight, but in the meantime, you should be able to retrieve the ones you previously could not.

Yay! You've prevented riots in the streets from lack of tricks or treats!
Did anyone tell you that you're awesome? ;D

Sweet! I grabbed them and shall listen to them promptly! Thank you!
-
khul beenz.
-
Thank you for fixing it. :)

Alrighty, then. Problems have been fixed, new stories by Amal El-Mohtar and Mur Lafferty have been sent out, and we are officially over the halfway point.
Rocking!
Also - just a little note: When I shot out Greg van Eekhout's and Tim Pratt's stories, I labeled them as #4 and #5. That was silly, because they are really #5 and #6. It should all be there in the .mp3 tags, but wanted to point it out here just in case anyone was wondering what was up.
Enjoy!
-
Hey, anyone want discussion threads for these stories?
-
Sure, discussion threads would be nice. Although they're mostly so short that it's hard to tease out any specifics to get a good argument going.
-
shrug. A few of them might spawn some nice discussion, and the rest can be for simple praise or critique.
-
I just gorged myself on a bag-full of trick or treat short stories on my run. Yum!!
Thanks again for these ;D.
-
Great stuff! Keep them coming! It's almost HALLOWEEEEN!
-
I went ahead and sent the last couple stories out today - I thought everyone might want a chance to get them before the weekend officially started. Hope you all enjoy them, and if I don't see you before - have a Happy Halloween!
-
Any chance of these ever becoming available again? I'd hate to miss out on these just because I'm late to the game... (although I understand the concept of promotional stories :) )
