I'm probably well off timely here, but I just want to recommend Super Man: Red Son. Really liked it - it's superman as a soviet rather than an american...
-
Isn't it cool? I really, really liked that one -- as long as you ignore all the names matching up. But it's a great take on what might have been if the rocket arrived just a little sooner (or is it later??)
-
Fighting for truth, justice, and the Soviet way? :-\

There's got to be a good Yakov Smirnoff joke here, somewhere…
-
Oh, good to know.
I've read a few things by Millar and have yet to be too enthused about them. Will have to check this out!

Was there ever more than one Yakov Smirnoff joke?

Yes, very cool. And re: stEPH - It's odd, but he almost seems to fit in better with the whole communist "save the common man" idea than with capitalism.
Did I just call Superman a communist? Yes, I suppose I did...
Seriously, what I really liked was the spinning forward into the future of the "Luthers." THAT was brilliant.
Didn't care for the fuzzy Russian hat on Batman, though.

You think Batman doesn't have a cold climates Bat Hat??
-
he probably has a specially designed batsuit that contains a thermal layer or two.
Or he has a 'make me warmer' gadget on his utility belt.

Not saying it isn't practical; just that it looks extremely silly...
