Title: Best SF/Fantasy film of 2011 - group B
Post by: Ocicat on January 13, 2012, 07:38:30 PM
Okay, here's the second group!  Once again, pick up to two, two move on.

And, of course, start some discussions!

I admit I haven't seen Rise of the Planet of the Apes yet myself, but I have heard great things about it.  I'm surprised it's not getting any love!

Wow, I haven't seen anything on this list :(

I need to watch more movies (in all my spare time).

You're really not missing much on this list, except maybe "The Things," which I haven't seen.

I saw the first 15 minutes of Thor and found them so tedious I left the theater and went home. My fiancee (who stayed behind, as she found Chris Hemworth's chest muscles to be somewhat more interesting than I did) said the movie improved once they got to Earth. To be honest, however, I think I'm just over superhero movies completely at this point.

I did not see any of the other movies in this poll.

Interesting. I loved Thor, it had an almost operatic quality. I thought it trod the line between high falutin' fun and just plain ridiculous very well indeed.

OTOH Cowboys and Aliens -- turned it off after 20 minutes. Incredible that something so great sounding could be so boring.

RotPotA I saw just last night. Great stuff! A good, coherent story with nods to the older films, while being an original in its own right.
