Title: lost story found... at the wrong time
Post by: Listener on November 19, 2012, 08:47:57 PM
I was thinking today during lunch I'd work on a horror story I'd started some time ago called "From the 800s". But in the same folder on my Google Drive was a file called "New Tricks". The title piqued my curiosity because I didn't remember writing it.

I opened it. I read it. It was a nice, heartwarming little Thanksgiving story about a man, a dog, and aliens. Only 1800 words -- which, for me, is unbelievably short.

And, what's more, it was completely done. Edited. Trimmed. Ready to be submitted.

So I did.

Problem is, I'm guessing most publications are now booking stories for their March issues -- at the latest -- and if an editor wants to run it at a seasonally-appropriate time, it'll have to wait until next year.

Why couldn't I find this story six months ago???

Anyway, /rant.

Its a good thing at least You found it. Feels awesome when we find something self written long ago. You can anyways submitt it. If not now someday later it would be published.
