Title: Hydra, a Random House SF/F imprint. Don't Publish There
Post by: DKT on March 07, 2013, 03:24:15 PM
John Scalzi has two long blog posts - one about Hyrda (a Random House SF/F imprint) (http://whatever.scalzi.com/2013/03/06/note-to-sff-writers-random-houses-hydra-imprint-has-appallingly-bad-contract-terms/), the other about an actual contract from Alibi (http://whatever.scalzi.com/2013/03/06/a-contract-from-alibi/), which is RH'scrime imprint. Go read them, if you haven't already.

Essentially: Stay away.

(But read the articles, because they're eye-opening, and appalling as to what rights are being asked for, and Scalzi's take-down of them is a thing of legend.)

I saw the SFWA e-mail notice that Hydra was not going to be a qualifying market.  Not surprised Scalzi wanted to talk about why.  :-D
