You can't attach them directly. (Or rather, you can, but they won't show up the way you think they might.)
What you need to do is have them somewhere else on the Web, such as Flickr (http://www.flickr.com) or Smugmug (http://www.smugmug.com) or your own home page, and then you put them here as a link using the "Image" tag on the little button bar. If you can't, simply use the img tag.
For example, using this code in a forum post:
[img]http://eley.smugmug.com/photos/136190753-M.jpg[/img]
Yields this image:
(http://eley.smugmug.com/photos/136190753-M.jpg)
Does that help? There are plenty of free or cheap places to put photos; if you need pointers on some good sites for it, let me know.

Thanks.
When I have a moment I'll check out the sites you mentioned and come back if I have questions.

I suggest photobucket. www.photobucket.com
It is free as well, and doesn't seem to have any limit on number of images hosted.
Next to each photo they will give you the BB code you need to put the image here. It is a simple cut and paste process. They also provide tools to adjust your image size to anything you need to make it fit right in a frame, including avatars.

Photobucket also allows you to make a slideshow of you pictures, then gives you the code to put them on your site or blog, ets..
Such as:

(This was for an area on my website). I wonder weather you can somehow post such a thing here. There could be an "Escape Artists Gallery" sub-forum where you would put pictures (or sideshows) that you think best illustrate Escape Artists and their podcasts.

Sadly, if you sign up after December 2006 (in other words, it's too late) you will have a restriction of thirty pictures.

Flickr (http://www.flickr.com) works just fine, too. Though you do have to link back to the image, that's easy enough. Just use the hyperlink button.

OK, I'm flummoxed. I can see all of these pictures and very rarely have any problems with things like that. But I haven't been able to see any of the EP banners (http://forum.escapeartists.info/index.php?topic=723.0) or the T-shirt (http://forum.escapeartists.info/index.php?topic=278.0) ideas. I'm using Safari and I tried IE. Plus I used the modify button to look at the message code and there wasn't anything other than the text. There was no BBCode at all.
Am I blind or were there no images in those posts?
-
not blind, i dunno who took em out, but ive been confused too (if you click modify or quote youll see that there is no code for the image to be found)
-
There is nothing wrong with your eyes or computer--if there ever were any graphics in those threads, someone has stripped them out. There is not even any code to suggest where said images might be stored. No idea who took the images out, or why. Sorry.

Is there any way to scale the display of over-sized images?
Say I've got this photo of my 1946 Northern Electric "Baby Champ" AM/SW tube radio: (using forum code)
(http://northernelectric.ca/radios/ne5002/ne5002.jpg)
...but it was really big, and I decide that I want it to display smaller because a really big inline image would stretch the forum window, forcing people to scroll horizontally to read all of the posts. Which bites.
I can use html too:
<img src="http://northernelectric.ca/radios/ne5002/ne5002.jpg">
(http://northernelectric.ca/radios/ne5002/ne5002.jpg)
But I can't use width and height in the tag to scale it:
<img src="http://northernelectric.ca/radios/ne5002/ne5002.jpg" width="180" height="109">
It just gives this:
<img src="http://northernelectric.ca/radios/ne5002/ne5002.jpg" width="180" height="109">
Any other options, short of resizing the source image and uploading it, or merely providing the link to the big image?

I stand corrected. This forum software puts scroll bars only on the image(s) that is(are) over-sized. The text wraps to fit the window width, even in the same post. Yay!

You learn something new every day. Good thing I've been using it forever.
