OK, I think that this was an Escape Pod story.  All I really remember was that a group of people were creating fake movies and TV episodes of long-dead stars (I'm thinking something along the lines of Abbot & Costello or Charlie Chaplin).

Does this ring a bell?

Most likely Fenneman's Mouth; that's the one that springs to mind for me.  (And one I was particularly pleased by.  Nicely subtle.)

There was also one way the hell back about a guy who discovers a Blockbuster from another dimension (with movies that failed here making it through development hell there), and then falls in love.

EP105: Impossible Dreams

Edit: Which is still probably my favorite EP.

I Twitter. I also occasionally blog on the Escape Pod blog, which if you're here you shouldn't have much trouble finding.
