Hi all...

Today while talking about old books a friend brought up "Brother in the Land".  I remember reading this book when I was in year 7 or 8 at high school.  And how we felt that the fallout part of the story reminded us of the Terminator movies.  But then it had me thinking about another book I started to read around the same time but never finished.  And I'm kinda wishing that someone here might know the book.

Some things I remember about the book.

 - Cover may have had a whale on it.
 - Early in the book the main character gets cut in half by a train.
 - Main character gets frozen until medical science catches up with his wounds.
 - Wakes to find that science has given him robotic legs.
 - At some point a character is washing the boils off his back in the salt water at a beach.

That's really all I remember about this book.  Very vague I know.  But I'm hopeful that someone might know the book.

Thanks in advance.

 - - Laith...

Thank you heaps.  That sounds like the book.  :D

I spent hours looking for it online and just couldn't find the right search terms.  Now to get a copy.
