Manga/anime fans (I'm looking at you, stePH): The same guys who put together World con 2007 in Yokohama are planning another convention, Hal-con, to be held in Tokyo this spring, and they want to bring the fan communities of Japan and the West closer together.  To this end there will be interpreters for many of the panels and one of the guests of honor is Charlie Stross.  The challenge they've run into is getting the word out to foreign fans living in Japan or able to come to Japan for the con.  The one guy on the convention staff who is American and reads manga reads them in Japanese so he's not really in touch with the local foreign community.   Do you guys know of online forums and/or podcasts that cater to manga and anime fans?  It's an SF convention, not specifically manga/anime, but I thought the changes of a random fan willing to come to Japan or living in Japan would be greater if he were a manga fan.

Here's the link:

yes, I know it's not complete and I know the English is sometimes goofy.

really, any of the fansub sites.  if you watch anime they should show who did the subs at the beginning, google them and you should find a board.

Sorry, but I can do absolutely nothing for you.  I have no connection to any anime/manga community, Japanese/American community, or any community to speak of.  Nor do I know of any related podcasts.  I just watch some anime and read some manga.
