If you are ever in Seattle, take a second look at the ugliest building in the world:  the Experience Music Project (EMP) that the  TicketMaster and Microsoft Billionaire Paul Allen built at the edge of the Seattle Center.

Allen has evidently recognized the lameness of the EMP, and taken half the building and given it over to Sci-Fi, the way only a billionaire nerd can.  Guys, Robbie the Robot is there, as is the Jupiter 7's Lost in Space Robot.  Every costume from Blade Runner (Sean Young's dress!!!) The Captain's Chair from the Original Star Trek--who new it had wooden arms?)  7 of 9's costume.  The Alien from Alien.  CPT Kirk's uniform from when he was in the alternate universe.  THE GORN!

Heinlein is appropriately featured.

Totally Cool!

But not a word about Serenity or Firefly.  :x

I was in Seattle for work a couple of weeks ago and checked that place out.  I would have liked to spend more time there, but I was afraid my wife would die of either boredom or sci-fi poisoning (you have to build a tolerance to that stuff).

I was pretty impressed with the weapons section (Decker's handgun from Blade Runner) and the original models of the Enterprise (TOS and TNG) that were actually used to make the show.  It's almost like meeting one of the cast.

I missed Kirk's chair.  That kind of ticks me off.... >:(

Those who would sacrifice liberty for safety deserve neither.

This would be a good place for an "EP class trip".  Pick a date and all the interested EPers in the area could get together, see the place, and then maybe go out to dinner or something.  It might only be three people (I wouldn't be able to make it. I live 7,000 miles away), but each one of them would get to meet two new people with similiar interests.

Wow, that sounds awesome.  Completely missed it last time I was there.  Next time I'm in the Seattle area, I'll have to check it out.  I'd love to do the underground tour again, too.

I've always wanted to go there.

I even heard that they have a Dagot!
