The martian poles are lovely this time of year.

Hope that Phoenix is enjoying them!

Ha... Until I saw the low, I was thinking "Oh look, it's February."
There was an article in the paper today about people in Edmonton not taking proper advantage of winter... But it's June! So I was outside and didn't finish reading it!
That said, Mars would be amazing, as long as you had proper gear. Think of the tobogganing.

I think you're sort of neglecting the "no atmospheric water" part of the equation.

Who said anything about snow? It's a northern prairie reality that tobogganing can occur on any surface. That's part of the glory. It's no good unless you can get gravel-ripped. ;)

I don't know about Mars, but I'd settle for DC summer thunderstorms not knocking out power at my house for the second time in two weeks.

I Twitter. I also occasionally blog on the Escape Pod blog, which if you're here you shouldn't have much trouble finding.

Yeah, they are going to try to call it next spring when it thaws out but they figure there will be no chance it will be "alive", they are expecting the batteries and some other parts to break as the ice encases it.   It would be cool to see a time lapse of that event.
