Hey, everyone!  Your favorite annoying nasal-voiced speaker-popping Assistant Editor is going to Gencon next weekend +wife -baby (who will be visiting his anya at the beach for the week).  If anyone else is sufficiently nerdy to be doing likewise, hit me up and we'll sit for a game involving wooden cubes and cardboard chips.  (I do dearly love me some wooden cubes, mm doggie.)

I'm bringing Eclipse, Archipelago, Terra Mystica, and Galaxy Trucker, and also String Railway and Skull & Roses (both of which will remain on my person in case of an emergency gaming situation).  :-D  And I fully intend to purchase at a bare minimum 1812: The Invasion of Canada and some Galaxy Trucker expansions, along with anything else that appears awesome.

wish i was going to gencon.  Not familiar with any of those games either, but love tabletop gaming.  I would love to work at/open my own board game cafe.  Went a couple of times when I was in China with some of my fellow teachers.  Got to play old school, whole world Axis and Allies which I hadn't played in years, because of no one to game with.  I play a version of settlers of catan online, and have the ticket to ride apps on my iPod Touch, which allow for computer opponents as well as human.  Love me some Munchkin as well.

If you pick up Memoir 44 at any point, look me up.  :-)  Two players, WWII themed, very simple tactical play.  That one comes with free-ish online play when you buy the physical game, but I don't get to play it much 'cause it's fiddly to set up the board.

I did pick up a Carcassonne app that worked pretty well.  The computer players even present a mild challenge when you play against them.  (Though they are bizarrely fond of roads.)

Munchkin I can only play once per year without slitting my wrists.  (I like games that you can at least *try* to win.  Munchkin also has a really brutal beat-the-leader problem that makes anything more than four players last forever.)

Ugh, I am so jealous. Husband and I were going to go this year, but got roped into a trip to Branson with the in-laws.

We're going next year!
