I recently encountered this book as part of my school english syllabus and discovered it to be a great worker of horror fiction. While it identifies itself as surrealist and as a modern fantasy novel. It is extremly well written with beautiful prose.
Has anyone encountered this author or any of her works ?
N.B This is a collection of short stories which are reimaginings of old fairy tales with a feminist twist.

Oh yes, read this during my degree. Excellent book, very odd, very dark and my first exposure to the wonderful world of postmodernism. If you like it, track down a copy of A Company of Wolves if you've not seen it, that's based on Carter's work.
