I've seen Red Sonja. I wish I hadn't, but I have. I put it along with Supergirl and Sheena: Queen of the Jungle as movies with female heroes made before Hollywood had a clue how to do it well.
Oh, and I know Batman & Robin got nominated before the data loss. That really needs to be in the running.
I found this on IMDB
Arnold Schwarzenegger himself eschews this movie as one of his worst, yet he (laughingly) claims that it's an excellent disciplinary tool for his children: "I tell them, if they get on my bad side, they'll be forced to watch ‘Red Sonja’ ten times in a row. Consequently, none of my kids has ever given me much trouble."
I love movies. So when I moved to Japan I was happy that most of the movies were American movies with Japanese subtitles. I would try to go every week. But one movie ticket in Japan costs about $15, and when I saw Die Hard 3 one week and then Batman and Robin the next, I decided my expensive habit wasn't worth it.
I never saw Sheena, but I have a soft spot for it. It was one of the first PG-13 movies. You could show boobies in a PG-13, and I was 13. And this was at a time when there were boobies in EVERY R-rated movie, so I figured odds were excellent that Sheena would show off her set. I could go and see boobies, and there wasn't a damn thing anyone could do about it. Somehow I never went, though. What do boobies look like, anyway?
Apparently, Tanya Roberts who played Sheena, also played Donna's mom on That 70's Show.
