Hey, Steve, did you ever think you would be compared to Slashdot or Fark?  I just heard on another podcast that if you tout a podcast on Escape Pod, listenership (is that a word?) spikes after that.  Chris Lester said his subscriber base went up by 50% over one weekend.

I invent imaginary people and make them have conversations in my head. I also write.

Or, in the latin, the Slashdoticus effectus.

I Twitter. I also occasionally blog on the Escape Pod blog, which if you're here you shouldn't have much trouble finding.

Oh, that won't do. We have to come up with a catchy nickname for the Steve Eley Effect that rivals "Instalanche" and "Kuroded."

Unfortunately, 8 hours of work have left me brain fried and I'm unable to form complete thoughts at this point about anything other than C++.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the subject header was "The Graham Norton Effect".  Does Steve now have a TV talk show?  ;D

Sure he does.

Except that it's not on TV, and it's only a "talk show" in that he talks....

This only works for British Podders of a certain vintage but "Watch out, Eley's About"

You've been Eleyed!
FTW!

Thirded!

I just finished updating the ever-evolving list of Escape Pod episodes (it's only got 100-155 at the moment) and I'm re-impressed all over again at just how much Steve has accomplished over the last three years.

Perhaps we should rethink the TCoRN pantheon?

Okay...I admit it. I have no earthly clue what TCoRN stands for, and I've been wracking my brain for the last half a day.

I'm sure it'll be painfully obvious and I'll be humbly embarrassed after you tell me.  But for now, I'm brain fried from a long work-week.

The Church of Russell Nash.  Originated during some thread on religion split off from a story discussion some time past, who knows when, several weeks ago.  I don't really understand it myself.

Aha. So it didn't make any sense to anyone but you guys, and I don't feel like an idiot. Great!  I can enjoy my weekend now. :)

TCoRN has always been and will always be. Currently it is known to its innumerable members as The Church of R-ssell N-sh.
R-ssell N-sh is the name god has chosen to use, and so it is sacred in its own right.
He's quite personable, unlike some of the other gods who've been touted over the years, and he'll gladly answer any prayers you send to him written on the back of a $100 bill (or note of equivalent or greater worth) to:

Heradel, I know you're jealous of TAD's Heretic status, but being mean spirited it won't help.
