Thanks to aforementioned group, I am now the proud owner of 30 years of Analog magazine, dating from the 70's through 90's. I am swooning with glee. My car is chock full of magazines. :D

They are in perfect shape, and labeled and ordered by date. The guy obviously loved his collection a lot, just didn't have space for it. This is a real treasure.

I'm particularly interested in reading the science articles from 30 years ago. That should prove pretty interesting :D

Anyway, no real point to this thread other than me being ecstatic about my new possessions. The first issue I picked up seems promising; it starts with an editorial by David Brin. :D

SO glad I subscribed to freecycle. You never know what you'll find.

That's cool.  Bummer for the guy, though.  Does he have limited visitation rights for his babies?

Have you checked Amazon to see if these have any value on the open market?

I wouldnt think there would be much value. They don't have dust jackets, for one thing. And I guess "perfect condition" is an exaggeration.. the covers show a little age.. but they are entirely intact, and pretty nice shape for 30 year old magazines. Spines aren't bent or anything.

Plus a handful are missing, he said. So I figure its mostly a great catch for a rabid genre fan like myself. ;)

And hehe. I don't know where the guy is moving to, but I do feel some obligation to take as good of care of the collection as he did. When I'm done reading them, perhaps I'll pass them along too. Share the joy.

I meant Ebay not Amazon.  I wasn't thinking of collector's quality.  I was just wondering if there was any kind of marlet for what you got.

Edit:  I just checked.  They seem to go for 25-50 cents an issue on Ebay.

hehe yeah, not too valuable in that way.

But a treasure trove for me personally. When i've gone through them all, perhaps I'll pass them on, and share the joy. :)

It's an impression collection, a heck of a lot of reading, and a bit of a time capsule.

Wonderful.
