George Carlin died Sunday.  I started listening to him early than a kid probably should have been allowed to.  To this day I can do long riffs of his material from memory.  Eventhough I liked his earlier calm wordplay more than his later loud attitude, I will truly miss him.

I started listening to him early on too.  I thought his earlier stuff was great.  His stuff from the mid-80's to present was not good, IMO, and I didn't take the time to watch his most recent effort.

   Came to his stuff late, somewhat unsurprisingly through Bill and Ted and his appearances for Kevin Smith.  Easily the smartest comedian of his generation and, along with Bill Hicks, one of the all time greats.  The routine about how he has issues believing in God, but has no problem with believing in Joe Pesci as that's a guy who you could GET BEHIND is one of my favourites:)

The pieces from his more recent stuff, that I heard in these stories, was a bit more of a return to the old stuff.  Not all of the way, but less screaming.  He said he started screaming because of Sam Kinison and I think that was a mistake.

That's the first time in a long, long time I've wished I had HBO.  Hopefully they'll put out a complete DVD set.
