Joe Walsh.  Life's Been Good link.  Anything Joe Walsh did rawks.  He was in Drew Carey's band.

I adore Joe Walsh, especially Life's Been Good.

Collective Soul.  Disciplined Breakdown wiki his my favorite album of all time, listen to the whole thing.  It is my zone out album and the album I listen to when sorting out my emotions.  The World I Know here is a great song, too.

I have their Dosage and Youth albums.  I'll have to check out the others.

Queen.  You can't go wrong with Queen.  My favorite?  Bicycle Race here.

One of the best bands of all time!  My favorite?  Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy

Peter, Paul and Mary.  Go give Puff, the Magic Dragon here another listen.  It is one of the saddest songs ever.  It is NOT about marijuana. 

I never did like Puff, but I love their sound.  I bought the 45 of Leaving on a Jet Plane but it's long gone.

I've been taking Jazz 201 at Jazz at Lincoln Center through my college, so what I've been listening to lately has been heavily influenced by that. From the NO Jazz tradition I've been listening to Jelly Roll Morton and King Oliver, from the Swing era Ellington and Basie, some areas of Miles Davis I hadn't listened to before, and then Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk. The class has been great, and I've got a long list of songs to get once I actually have some cash for iTunes.

Apart from Jazz, the only other music I've been listening too lately is Amanda Palmer and the Dr. Horrible soundtrack.

Dr. Hook, Shel Silverstein (he wrote A LOT of songs and performs a few), David Allan Coe, Marty Robbins, Chris Ledux (Stampede gives me chills), Red Sovine (if you feel like tearing up), Meat Loaf (Paradise by the Dashboard Lights is the ultimate pinball song), Steve Earl (even though he's sobered up, he still has talent), Bobby Bare (Tequila, Shelia and The Winner are 2 of my favorites), and Genesis.

... including a lot that he wrote for Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, I remember reading.  And the legendary "A Boy Named Sue" made famous by Johnny Cash, was written by "Uncle Shel" also.

He also performed with Dr Hook.  I Was Stoned and I Missed It is pretty fun.  He was actually a fascinating person.  He would not let any of his work be published unless he approved of the format.  He felt that it wasn't only the words that were important, but also the feel and texture of the paper.

It's the ultimate "listen to while playing pinball" song.  I've racked up some of my highest scores listening to that.

Pinball Wizard is a good song, but not for playing pinball.  You need to get in a rythym when playing pinball and that just doesn't cut it.
