i haven't seen oldboy, and I don't know how well Will Smith could play a Korean man, but I think he'd be a great actor in a dark movie if only people would leave the Fresh Prince out of it.

How do you fight a bully that can un-make history?

I don't think it can work...although I think both Smith and Spielberg are super talented.

But Oldboy is something that is so disturbing, by the end you just feel so dirty...I just can't imagine either of them doing it the way it was done before.

That said, they probably can make a great movie if they make it their own, just as long as they don't try to make exactly the same movie.  It just won't be Oldboy.

that feels about right. it could be a good movie but it probably wont be oldboy, not the way we know it. i am legend comes to mind.

i'm particularly interested to see Spielberg's interpretation of the one take fight scene.

If there must be a remake, it could be in worse hands.  Imagine the folks at Disney (HM3) looking for a new franchise.  Oldboy - the Musical.  Tap shoes, jazz hands, and blood.

I just see a remake as more a Quentin, Lynch, or even a Burton kind of project.
