It's snowed all week. I've had three days off school so far and it's only going to get better, frankly. I'm very pleased about it, adapting my weird image to the wonderful scenery of an urban snowscape by listening to songs like Fog (again) and Cymbal Rush while walking through the snow. And I feel sorry for the Americans
!
My lads had two days in a row off school a couple weeks ago because the bus-time temps were about -25 F with wind chills off the charts, and we ended up with 80+ hours below zero in a row. I wonder about our Canadian neighbors, are they this wimpy or did they suck it up and continue on with life?
My first winter in NYC was really mild at first (~7-10 C), and about overnight it dropped to -10 C. So I, being foolish, did not check the weather and exited in my customary jeans and sweatshirt for my three block walk to the subway.
Now, this alone was simply foolish, but the bit that made it extremely stupid is that I live next to the Hudson, so the 20 kph winds over the river get kicked up to 40-60 kph once they hit the city canyons. Three blocks, at a run, and my fingers were a bit blue by the time it was over. At least my school's right next to the subway exit.
