I think it's high time we had some haiku time.

To play the Haiku game, you:
1. Post the last line of the haiku started by the person two posts above you.
2. Post the second line of the haiku started by the person one post above you.
3. Post the first line of a new haiku, to be finished by subsequent posters.

Additional Rules:
For the sake of legibility, please post the entire haiku each time (so, post all three lines in step 1, and post the first and second line in step 2).
Funny, serious, sad, fuzzy-feeling, or other emotionally-charged haiku are all allowed. It would probably violate the rules of posting anyway, but please keep things civil and non-vulgar.
Remember, everyone, a haiku is 5-7-5 syllables. Violate that rule for the sake of artistic license as you will.

and a link to the original forum i borrowed this idea from http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122247
/[Edit]

Since there's no one above me, I get the most boring post.

um ... this might make more sense if the rules hadn't been posted in reverse order.  ???

Quote
We’re chippin’ at the moon with an old bone
Issa and her sister chip until the moon is gone
An endless row of wagons in the snow
Issa grabs her sister says c’mon let’s go ‘cause
Yeah, I think I’ll write a haiku
Well, you know as well as I do
You gotta, gott have a high IQ
So eat this and have a cup of tea

Widow lighting lamps at cock crow
Sengai stamps to help his blood flow
From his brush figures rush
In the middle sits a poet
Almost smothered, almost crushed,
crying
"yeah, I think I'll write a haiku..."
Well, you know as well as I do
You gotta, gott have a high IQ
So eat this and have a cup of tea

(Systole, diastole
Dealing with the parts but
Feeling with the whole.)
Yo!

Han Shan's tears, small worlds
In the wood a drop of blood
Hits an inky pond which ripples as it should...
Yeah, I think I’ll write a haiku
Well, you know as well as I do
All you need is a very high IQ
So eat this and have a cup of tea

That's what happens when you copy and paste someone else's badly ordered directions, it made sense to me, but I had more examples to work off of as well.

actually after reading it again, it's not in reverse order, it's that there aren't any posts to go off of.  the next person would have to skip rule 1., the person after that will finish Haiku one, add to Haiku two and post haiku 3.  The person after that follows the rules as posted    ( ie. finishes the second haiku, adds to haiku 3 and posts haiku 4).

Reread step 3 of the instructions without them the thread dies after 3 posts.

without step 3 I can't follow step 2.

Okay, you've completely lost me.  Can you maybe explain the rules in machine language, or semaphore, or something else a bit more comprehensible than the initial post?

StePH, lowky figured since you started, you'd post 2 lines of Haiku 1 (which you did) and the first line of Haiku 2 (which you didn't).  He would finish Haiku 1 (which he did), and add the 2nd line to Haiku 2 (which he can't until you post the first line) and then post the final line of Haiku 3 (which he did).  The next poster will finish Haiku 2, add to Haiku 3 and start (with the last line) Haiku 4.

What makes no sense to me is the fact that the Haiku each poster starts (in lowky's case, Haiku 3) is started with the LAST line.  It should be the first line, logically, but maybe that's what makes this game more interesting.  I don't do Haiku, so I'm not participating, just spectating.

No the new Haiku is the first line, but you post the last line of the Haiku of the person 2 posts above.  So when starting the game, the first poster only completes step 3, the second poster completes steps 2 and 3, the third poster will follow all steps and so will everyone thereafter.

*Edit* Trying to find the original forum I found this own to include a link to an established game.  Unfortunately i have cleared my cache since then, so it may be a while, as i went through several forums looking for games.

Ack!  You're right, lowky, I read it wrong.  That's why it didn't make sense.  OK, StePH, lemme revise this:

StePH, lowky figured you'd post 2 lines of Haiku 1 (which you did) and the first line of Haiku 2 (which you didn't).  He would finish Haiku 1 (which he did), and add the 2nd line to Haiku 2 (which he can't until you post the first line) and then post the final first line of Haiku 3 (which he did).  The next poster will finish Haiku 2, add to Haiku 3 and start Haiku 4.

Right?

I count six syllables, unless "Zorag" is pronounced "ZORG"

poetic license?  I couldn't think of another way to say it, every option was six.  I actually changed it after I saw he posted as jason, was first in response to him deleting his account.  Was originally: Zorag will be missed

Okay, I'll jump back in when somebody else takes a turn.  I won't finish the same haiku that I started.

actually Steph it looks like just you and I are interested in this thread.  we might as well let it die.  This is why i posted about 4 different games to the forum.  I assumed some would catch on and some would not.
