Well people, Shirly you can't object to McKean's covers for Sandman??

Can and do.  McKean is for no.  When I said
I absolutely despise everything Dave McKean does. 
I did mean everything.

But thankfully his work is limited to the front covers in that book; doesn't hurt my enjoyment of it ... much.

Ouch.

I agree with your Arkham Asylum assessment -- it was... odd at the least and the artwork didn't help.

But.

Gaiman's Sandman would not be the same without McKean's covers. In a good way.

I read the trade paperbacks, so I hardly noticed the individual issue covers.
