So I've been reading a lot of Lovecraft.  You can download all* of his works to the Kindle for like $3.00.  Most of it isn't as scary as one would hope. 

If a guy wanted to go for some good Lovecraft-inspired literature.  Where would he go?  Is there a collection of Lovecraftian horror by established authors?

Although, in retrospect, I wonder why you'd expect to find the variators frightening if you weren't moved by the source...

not sure of online stories, but Chaosium published several collections each about a different entity or area from lovecraft's stories
