So, my little sister sent me this link: http://www.thrivenotes.com/the-last-question/ to a great Asimov short story about ol' evil entropy moving in for the kill, causing a cold death to the universe scenario, and a "let there be light" moment.  This reminded me of an old Escape Pod story that I desperately want to send her, but for the life of me I can't find or recall what it was called.  I am hazy on the details, but I recall the episode used metaphors to describe interactions between creatures about to end in a cold entropy death.  I vaguely recall an old man being a metaphor for some wise caretaker of the universe... and eagles... attacking something that was an embodiment of chaos.  It isn't the Santa entropy episode.

Okay... that is really vague, but I remember it being an awesome episode.  I don't suppose anyone recalls it?

The Santa entropy episode was my first thought, otherwise I think Talia's pointed out the one you're probably thinking of.

Ooh, right. I'd quite forgotten about that one. That WAS a dandy story, if super super super abstract.
