Thought it'd be nice to have a general Convention thread, so everyone can see who's going where and talk about meeting up.

I wasn't cool enough to make it to WorldCon like Kibitzer and Mur, but I am going to make it down to San Diego next weekend to Conjecture. Pretty sure Greg van Eekhout and Samantha Henderson will be there, too. Anyone else in the area going to check it out?

Or are there any other conventions coming up you're going to?

The weekend of October 15th I am going to Philadelphia for a mini-con/meetup thing called RT:Philly.  Its for some of the Red vs. Blue community to get together and have some fun... I wouldn't consider it a con, but hey, why not post about it?

I'd like to hear my options, so I could weigh them, what do you say?
Five pounds?  Six pounds? Seven pounds?

My next one will probably be SteamCon this November in Seattle.  The first one was great last year!  Lots of steampunk costuming, and some really fun panels on Victorian oddities.  Not to mention the obligatory Abney Park concert.

Well, it's hardly a BIG con.  But if someone DID show up, that would be cool, and you could totally play Mouse Guard or Don't Rest Your Head with me.  :-D

Less of a convention and more of just a regular book shop signing, but I'm also planning on hitting Dark Delicacies on October 16 at 2pm for my friend's signing of John Skipp's anthology Werewolves and Shapeshifters. Also cool - John Joseph Adams will be there with a bunch of Living Dead 2 contributors and I am so looking forward to picking his brain (bwahahahahaha).

Nothing planned at the moment.  I kind of wanted to hit World Fantasy in Colombus, but it's hard to travel in the middle of the semester.  So far I've only been to one convention (MiniCon 2010), and I'd like to expand my horizons.  Preferably somewhere where I can meet 2 or 3 of my online cronies.  :)

If anyone's in the area -- I'll be at ICON in Cedar Rapids, IA, Nov 5-7.  Guest of Honor: Cory Doctorow!

And, as a serious down play from Ben's post, if you happen to be around Cleveland on the 15th or 16th, i'll (Norm Sherman) be at www.cononthecob.com as comedy music guest of honor in a few weeks.  Would love to shoot the shit with any fellow EP fans.

No kidding?  Dude, that's only a 4 hour drive from where I live--I might actually manage that.  Are you participating in any programming or just there for fun?  (That is, if I do end up going, what's the easiest way to find you so I can say hi)

Anyone in the Philadelphia area this weekend?  I'm going up for stuff, and I will have some free time Friday and Sunday if anyone wants to do coffee or something :)

Glad to see both MACE and Con on the Cob going strong.  I haven't talked to Clint Black or Andy Hopp much since we were working on Savage Worlds.

And Cheyenne Wright will definitely be at SteamCon - I think he said he's designing the badges this year.

When will all the rhetorical questions end?

Shoot, I should really get back to them about that now that my work schedule's finally cleared up.  Well, it's a really small con, so it shouldn't be too hard in any case.  I'll PM you my cell.  But honestly...  just check at the hotel bar for a skinny guy with a black leather trenchcoat.  There aren't too many of those in Iowa, even at a con.

Having been confronted with the fact that the Nebula Awards Weekend is being held across the street from my office, I will be attending it next June.

I Twitter. I also occasionally blog on the Escape Pod blog, which if you're here you shouldn't have much trouble finding.
