Good choice for an Alasdair reading. I love philosophy, and how the most in-depth of philosophies can be based on such seemingly meaningless details. In this case, this person comes to conclusions about the life, universe, and everything, but thinking that he sees a clock ticking backward once.
The one thing that I was a little confused about was why a clock ticking backwards meant that the clock was eating your time. It seems to me that a clock running too quickly would be eating your time, because time is running faster for you.
In this philosophy Daylight Savings Time must be like the End of Days. All the clocks in the country team up and eat a whole hour of time from everybody, forcing God into retreat for a time, until some months later God retaliates and recovers that ground, and there is much rejoicing!
What does a stopped clock mean? immortality?
