Today marked the end of the first phase of the contest. With the closure of the 10th group, all 92 stories have now been read and 29 of them have been selected for the semi-finals. A further 11 have made it up to the second chance round. 2 stories are currently in limbo between the two - please vote on the tie breaker to determine which goes where.

Thank you to all the authors of the 50 storie which have left the competition so far. I hope that everyone stays on for the coming rounds - we're all familiar with all the competing stories now so there are no more unknowns, and now the stories can truly be judged for their merits versus the entire field. Good luck all!

As a dual leaver, thanks to everyone who voted and commented. Every word is valuable because every view is a reader perspective that impacts on the next iteration :)

Science is what you do when the funding panel thinks you know what you're doing. Fiction is the same only without the funding.

The tiebreaker is over - Happy New Year won - and it's now time for the second chance round. Vote for your favourite two from all the fourth place stories to go up to the finals!

(The tiebreaker board has been folded back into the group 6 board, in case you were looking for it)
