We've lost another one of the greats: R.I.P. Jack Vance, 1916-2013
To be honest, I kind of assumed he was already gone. But man, did I enjoy his stuff. His off the wall imagination really lit up my brain when I was a kid, and I'll always consider him one of the greats.

Noone -- absolutely noone -- wrote like Jack Vance. He's written some of the most memorable and classic stuff out there.
Vale, Jack Vance. You will be sorely missed.

Super, super sad to hear this. He lived a full life, though, and he left some big marks.
(I wish I had the Dying Earth with me at work right now.)

If anyone missed Tony Smith's interview with Vance and Fred Pohl when it aired a few years ago,
here's a link
. He posted it as a stand-alone.
Well worth a listen, if just for the awesomeness of hearing two 90+ year-old sci-fi legends banter.
