I was really excited to see a commercial for "Bitten" on SyFy. It was like a 15-second teaser, so I wasn't sure, but I Googled the show. Sure enough, it IS based on Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series, or at least the first book, Bitten, about reluctant werewolf Elena Michaels, who's turned her back on her pack ... but they haven't exactly turned their backs on her.
Of course, it's SyFy, so they could utterly fail to do justice to the book, but then again, they have had some really fun shows, too. I'm optimistic. It starts on January 13.
I know nothing about the showrunner, etc. The actress playing Elena is Laura Vandervoort, who played Lisa in "V" and Tanya in "Better Off Ted."
The book starts with Elena trying to live as a human in Toronto. It will be amusing if the show does that too, since so many budget-challenged shows have Toronto standing in for an American city, and that way Toronto would get to play itself for once.
