Returning to a tradition from days of yore on the forum, because we just lost a great of the film world:

Leonard Nimoy, Mr. Spock On 'Star Trek,' Dies At 83

I have been upset about this all day. Beloved cultural figures are not allowed to die, darnit.

(Keep your filthy hands away from George T, Mr. Reaper. Don't make me kick your butt).

 :(

On a related note - does Baxter have to write the final book of The Long Earth series himself now? Did they at least get it outlined?

I've never read any Tanith Lee; where's a good place to start?

I've only read Electric Forest which was interesting; I also have Red as Blood (which is a collection of either dark reimaginings of well-known fairy tales; or darker, closer-to-the-original-story retellings of same) on my shelf, as well as the four-volume The Secret Books of Paradys.

I picked this edition up at the used book store this past weekend. It's supposed to be amazing. Cover blurb says it all.

That's the angriest-looking mime I've ever seen.

(Sorry, couldn't resist)

No. I can honestly say that when I lived in NYC, it never occured to me to apply to mime school, so that never was an issue.

Peter Beagle has a great post about remembering Christopher Lee: http://petersbeagle.tumblr.com/post/121358600906/peter-remembers-christopher-lee

Bassist Chris Squire of Yes, last week (28 June)

He was my inspiration. Rick Wakeman and his keyboards made me want to take up music, but further listening made me realize that it was Squire's playing that really spoke to me.
