Join to apply for the Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) NorthEast / SouthEast Columbia role at United States Postal Service **Position is located in the NorthEast / SouthEast area of Columbia.** Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) Assistant Rural Carriers, using dynamic route descriptions, will deliver packages on Sundays and observed holidays. They may also case, deliver, and collect mail and packages on Saturday along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle. This is a part-time, non-career position. Applicants must have a valid state driver's license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger. Driving must have taken place in the U.S., its possessions or territories, or in U.S. military installations worldwide. Hours will vary and include Saturday, Sunday, and USPS holidays; scheduling is flexible with little to no advance notice. You may need to provide a vehicle sufficient in size for delivery if one is not provided by the employer. Additional compensation is provided if you supply your own vehicle. You must be able to deliver from the right-hand side of the vehicle. Work involves outdoor and indoor tasks in all weather conditions, including rain, sleet, ice, snow, cold, and heat, often encountering animals and insects. The role requires physical activity including moderate to heavy lifting, carrying, prolonged standing, reaching, and walking, with routes covering 10-15 miles daily. You will be responsible for mail security, following safe work procedures, and performing the following duties: Sort mail in delivery sequence for your route. Receive and sign for accountable mail. Load mail into your vehicle. Deliver mail, collect monies and receipts, and pick up mail from roadside boxes. Sell stamps, stamped paper, and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcels; provide postal information and forms to customers.
