*Pay*: The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $175,000 and represents the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.

Job Overview: We are seeking a dynamic full-time Associate Attorney. This is a full-time, remote exempt position with occasional travel to Fresno, California needed. A successful candidate must have at least 1 year of experience practicing law in California. While experience in employment or labor law is preferred, it is not required. Attorneys with experience in education law highly desired. Strong writing and analytical skills are essential to this position. Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience. *Duties and Responsibilities:*

Our firm encourages employees at every level to take an active role in the development and success of the firm. Shankar Legal, Inc. provides all Attorneys with robust ongoing training in neutral investigations through our Attorney Training Program.

The essential functions (i.e., fundamental job duties of the position), subject to shareholder supervision, are as follows:

* Provides education sector legal advice and services in student law, facilities & business and/or labor and employment law.

* Provide transactional, advisory and pre-litigation legal advice and representation in business and employment law matters to private sector business, non-profit corporations and education institutions (K-12 through higher education both public and private).

* Provides workplace investigation, as well as transactional/advisory labor and employment law to the firm’s business, non-profit, and public agency clients.

* Supports other attorney investigators with investigations work, including interview preparation, transcript summaries, report writing and document review.

* Conducts legal research, analysis on a wide variety of business, landlord-tenant, labor/employment and education law compliance matters.

* Maintains positive, collaborative and professional relationships with other attorneys and support staff.

* Develops trust with clients, meeting their expectations, business goals, and deadlines.

* Takes a holistic approach to legal representation focusing on practical outcomes and legal risk management.

* Develops professional skill set in the firm's areas of practice, including growing expertise in one or more area.

* Performs other duties as appropriate to the skill, experience and education level of the candidate, and the needs of the Firm, including completing administrative duties to meet Firm objectives.

*Education and Experience:*

* One or more years of experience practicing law in CA, required.

* Strong writing skills, required.

* Previous experience with neutral investigations, desired.

* Previous experience with educational institutions, desired.

* Strong listening and communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to develop rapport with witnesses.

* Strong client communication skills, including experience working with clients in high consequence legal disputes.

* Demonstrated curiosity and openness to learning new skills and the ability to accept and implement feedback.

* Ability to assess facts with impartiality and mitigate personal biases.

* Strong time management skills and demonstrated ability to work independently to complete tasks under tight deadlines.

* Ability to maximize time and effort in addressing position responsibilities, as well as quick adaptation to changes in priorities.

* Positive, professional and approachable attitude and demeanor and the ability to collaborate with others.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.

* Understanding of legal language, principles, and research methods (including experience using online research platforms).

* Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize to meet deadlines.

* Must be experienced with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Zoom, and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point (firm uses cloud-based platforms such as Office 365).

* Must have California drivers’ license.

* Must have a can-do attitude, be flexible and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial business culture.
