Cost Manager / Estimator – Southern California

Location Options: Sherman Oaks, Downtown LA, Long Beach, Temecula, Irvine, San Diego

Pay Rate: $40-62.50

Contract Type: 6-month contract-to-hire

Experience Level: 3–10 years

About the Role

A leading national construction company is seeking a  Cost Manager / Estimator to join its Cost & Estimating Group. This role is critical in supporting preconstruction and construction teams by preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing design documents, and collaborating with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed cost estimates for projects of varying size and complexity.
• Analyze plans and specifications; perform quantity takeoffs for Civil, Structural, and Architectural trades.
• Collaborate with internal teams, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Assist in value engineering efforts and maintain knowledge of material unit costs and construction trends.
• Participate in design progress meetings and client presentations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 3-10 years of Estimation/Cost Management Experience
• Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Technical Skills:  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to interpret Civil, Structural, and Architectural drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with On-Center OnScreen Takeoff or similar quantity takeoff software (preferred, not required).
• Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and respectful team player.
