Hi-Tek Manufacturing is searching for an experienced Wire EDM Operator / Programmer  who wishes to continue to develop his or her career in advanced manufacturing technology by executing a higher level of workmanship. Hi-Tek is a Drug-Free Workplace and conducts pre-employment 10-panel drug and background screening and random 10-panel drug screening. 

Essential Duties and Tasks:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, this role will operate all Wire EDM / WEDM machines in the shop, operates CAD and CAM software, and create 2 & 4 axis programs using appropriate software. Fixtures work piece as necessary to facilitate machining. Maintains a necessary inventory of perishables, such as guides wire, filters, etc. This role will also load/unload parts, inspect parts using various precision measuring tools, accept or reject parts, and communicate any changes, both verbally and in writing.

  • Selects, aligns, and secures fixtures, wire, and workpieces on machines as necessary to machine parts as required
  • Loads and edits CNC programs as required
  • Utilizes knowledge of rotary/linear axes and using G and M codes
  • Programming/operating/maintaining Wire EDM utilizing knowledge of working properties and processes for a variety of materials
  • Develop/Implement process recommendations for improved efficiency to optimize the programs and processes resulting in defect free parts 
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpieces to customer specifications, using precision measuring tools and equipment, as necessary
  • Documents actions by updating control charts, travelers, and ERP labor reporting
  • Clean the work tank, table, and wire path pulleys daily
  • Analyze and interpret Op sheets, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and travelers to produce products that meet or exceed customer specifications
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment
  • Follows all Hi-Tek policies and procedures, including proper PPE
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by performing daily housekeeping duties

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Wire EDM experience required- minimum of 3 years 
  • Tool and Die Blueprint reading experience preferred
  • Understanding the different wire types, sizes, operating parameters for best machine optimization
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to perform manual G code programming edits to improve the process
  • Solid grasp on high school level mathematics necessary
  • Experience with Mitsubishi controls preferred 
  • Experience with Esprit Cam and or Siemens, NX software – Minimum 3 years required
  • Must meet the ITAR definition of §120.15 U.S. person
  • Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment, aerospace industry preferred

    Physical Demand Levels

  • Lift, push and/or pull up to thirty-five pounds regularly
  • Operate overhead crane or other lifting equipment when necessary

  • Routinely perform reaching, twisting, bending, lifting, and grasping
  • Frequently use gross and fine motor skills to manage various parts, tools, and tooling
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color perception, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 20/20 vision (natural or corrected) required with ability to pass annual vision test as required
