Manager, Digital Forensics, Forensic Technology Services

Role overview and team context at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) in Forensic Technology Services. A&M is a global consulting firm with a focus on hands-on problem solving, integrity, quality and inclusion. The Digital Forensics Manager leads a team of consultants to enable external clients and internal teams to leverage forensic data technologies in contentious legal and regulatory situations.

Responsibilities


  • Lead a team of consultants across all phases of the forensic data lifecycle, including identification, recovery, preparation, analysis and preservation of digital data used in legal or regulatory matters.
  • Manage onsite data collection activities and overall project delivery; plan and coordinate data collection with stakeholders.
  • Oversee collection, pre-processing, capture and preparation of images and other forensic data artifacts to enable analysis.
  • Maintain data and documentation according to prescribed chain of custody protocols.
  • Perform data extraction and conversion to migrate data to the appropriate analysis environment.
  • Support processing of images and data in the review environment and analyze artifacts to trace user activity (e.g., file manipulation, USB activity, browser history, chat analysis, cloud activity, cryptocurrency transactions, etc.).
  • Develop and manage relationships with external clients and internal stakeholders; communicate technical processes and findings clearly and provide client-ready reports.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary projects involving economic disputes, white-collar investigations, forensic accounting and post-acquisition disputes.


Qualifications
  • Minimum 8+ years of digital forensics experience in a client-facing, professional services setting.
  • Extensive experience with on-site and remote forensic preservation of data sources (endpoint, mobile, cloud, social media).
  • Proficiency with forensic tool suites (e.g., OpenText EnCase, Cellebrite UFED4PC, Physical Analyzer, Endpoint Inspector, Magnet Forensics Axiom).
  • Experience performing forensic analyses and delivering client-ready work products.
  • Strong understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and best practices in forensic collection, analysis and review.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills for clients and technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy; capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelors degree in a technical/analytical field (e.g., computer science, information systems, engineering).
  • Ability to travel approximately 20-40% of the time.
  • Relevant training/certifications (e.g., GFCE, EnCE, CISSP) and/or other professional certifications; quantitative skills with SAS, Stata, Python, R, Power BI or SQL preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range is $100,000 - $140,000 annually, dependent on education, experience, skills and geography. A discretionary bonus program is also offered. Regular employees (30+ hours/week) are eligible for healthcare, spending accounts, life and disability coverages, a 401(k) plan with discretionary employer contributions, paid time off, holidays and parental leave.
