The Hampton Public Library - Phoebus Branch is seeking dedicated individuals to perform a variety of responsible library duties. In this role, you'll support daily library operations and contribute to an environment that fosters discovery, learning, and access to information for all. One (1) year of experience performing paraprofessional library duties or closely related experience. Specialized courses/training equivalent to the completion of one (1) year of college in library science, literature, or a closely related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. Library Assistants assigned to the Phoebus Library are required to have a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion. Additional Requirements May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends. May require local travel and use of a personal vehicle. The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules for a complete job description.
