We’re opening a modern Scandinavian-inspired candy shop featuring premium European pick-and-mix candy, house-made soft serve, and curated packaged goods - and we’re looking for an experienced, energetic, and organized Store Manager to lead the team.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, loves creating a welcoming guest experience, and can balance daily operations with staff leadership and high standards of cleanliness, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations
  • Oversee daily store opening/closing procedures
  • Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising standards, and product presentation
  • Ensure candy bins, soft-serve machines, and packaged products are always stocked and rotated correctly
  • Coordinate minor prep tasks (soft-serve, toppings, cleaning schedules, labeling)
  • Maintain compliance with NYC DOH standards and store safety procedures
Leadership & Team Management
  • Recruit, hire, train, and lead a team of 8–15 FOH staff
  • Create and manage weekly staff schedules
  • Conduct ongoing training on customer service, POS, candy handling, and soft-serve procedures
  • Provide coaching, performance reviews, and disciplinary follow-ups when needed
  • Cultivate a positive, team-focused, high-standards environment
Guest Experience
  • Lead by example through exceptional hospitality
  • Resolve guest issues with professionalism and empathy
  • Maintain product knowledge of all candy SKU types, soft-serve flavors, and packaged items
  • Train team on upselling, sampling, and guest engagement best practices
Inventory, Ordering & Admin
  • Manage inventory counts and ordering for candy, dairy, packaging, and operational supplies
  • Track sales, labor, waste, and COGS with ownership team
  • Ensure accuracy of POS items, pricing, discounts, and promotions
  • Submit daily/weekly reports to owners
  • Oversee cash handling and bank deposits
Soft Serve & Equipment Oversight
  • Ensure correct daily cleaning and sanitizing of soft-serve machine
  • Train staff on pouring, serving, and machine care
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and coordinate service calls
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of management experience in retail, hospitality, or specialty food
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Comfortable with hands-on work and leading by example
  • Solid understanding of scheduling, inventory, waste control, and basic financials
  • Experience with Square POS (preferred)
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Interest in Scandinavian candy culture is a plus, but not required
Compensation & Benefits
  • $60,000 - $65,000 (depending on experience)
