aww i dont smoke and i love Aqua Teen Hunger Force!  Well, at least the movie.  the show has its ups and downs.

but yes, every generation has their blazzed quirks.  Zappa is a great example. :)

I'd like to hear my options, so I could weigh them, what do you say?
Five pounds?  Six pounds? Seven pounds?

Tastes in comedy have shifted so much in the last years…
Not to derail, but a quick question: are the comedy stylings of comedy duo Tim and Eric a generational thing or are they as stupid and unfunny as I think they are? If it's a generational thing, it's the first time I've found myself on the "old" side of the culture gap. :-\

Bdoomed and stePH are right, but I think that's also part of what I was talking about.  As a culture, we've been more accepting of what would have been too "coarse" or "vulgar" to show before.  It's a function of the audience's desire to be shocked; two things inevitably happen: the audience gets bored with being grossed out and goes to look for something more substantial, and to keep/gain an audience, the entertainers find new depths to plumb.  It's usually described in generational terms because (obviously) newer people aren't going to be bored with the schlock yet.

And it's not like each generation hasn't had their poster-children of the toilet-humor revolution; I'll let you all debate the relative merits of Beavis & Butthead, South Park, Adult Swim, Family Guy, Simpsons, and... Frank Zappa.  ;)
Yeah, I can enjoy some ATHF, myself, and completely without any "herbal supplements." And Family Guy is funny... But Tim and Eric... they're just not funny. The "humor" isn't politically charged or scatalogical... it's just... well, as far as I'm concerned, it's non-existent, but what's supposed to pass for humor is just weird. Now, I can appreciate some nonsensical, surreal humor, but they plumb depths of surreality that are several thousand fathoms beyond funny.

Let's bring this back on track with a musical number.

[singing]
If you're blue
and you don't know
where to go to
why don't you go
where fashion sits...
'UTTIN' ON THE 'IIIIITZ.
[/singing]

Thank you

That's what the world needs more of: Monster movie Musicals!

What have we got, there, so far:

Rocky Horror Picture Show
Phantom of the Opera (the movie sucked, but I always loved that soundtrack)
Sweeney Todd (he's a "monster", right?)
Thriller...

If only we could get Tim Burton to do "Swamp Thing", with music by the B-52's...

or....

I finally published my book - Tad's Happy Funtime is on Amazon!

Not exactly a monster movie, but The Return of Captain Invincible is a superhero musical, which features Christopher Lee singing about how evil he is whilst surrounded by scantily-clad prostitutes...

I suspect some of the people here will appreciate it.

Christopher Lee?  I'm sure that's still not as bad as I imagine Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood in singing roles.
