So is anyone else watching it?

I considered putting it in the Fantasy section because of it's source material, but it's certainly more of an SF(steampunk) take on the original. That and fantasy tends more towards leather than PVC in the henchmen department.

Gotta love the Hobbit/Ewok/Indians.

I've been trying like hell for the last few nights, but there are a lot of little personal obstacles that keep me from watching anything closely.  I really like the bits I've seen.  Would it be worth renting or buying it?

Having seen all of itβ€”

I'd describe it as predictable, with a director/editor that must be tone deaf β€” such is the only explanation for some of the takes that they used (myself not believing that those performances were the only ones the actors gave). Apparently they prized lines that were devoid of inflection/emotion. Not for the whole thing, but for some of it. And the writing needed some rewrites.

That said, they had one hell of an art department.

I won't make it into a big production, but my wife goes to sleep pretty early, so I do some of my night TV with the volume fairly low.  Combine that with my poor hearing, and I have trouble with dialogue.  Not such an issue when I watch sports.
The visuals really caught my attention.

Mine too. I just wished the story lived up to them.

I mean, it wasn't a horrible plot, it just kind of rote A->B->C->D->E->F->G. It's a β€” Evil Character is evil, but wait, it's because she's been taken/tricked over by an evil spirit, which resolves her of all responsibility for her actions so it ends on a high note β€” kind of thing.
