With the ringing of the virtual forum bell, I am happy to announce that the third Escape Pod Flash Contest is now open for submissions. Please follow the instructions in the official instruction thread.

Not that I'm expecting any submissions for a while now, as you have until September 15. But in case you are in a hurry to submit, you may now do so :)

Two stories submitted!  I would've submitted them on August 1, but I was in a wasteland without Internet until the 4th.  :)

And mine is in... Whew, I don't know what makes me more anxious/excited, the results of the contest, or the inevitable feedback from the voracious EP forumers who can be a tough crowd to please at times, myself included.  ;)

Actually, I'm quite excited to see what people have to say. I am also equally excited to read the other stories so I can tear them down to make my own look better... wait, what? Hehe, I would never. I do wish all the contestants the best and am just looking forward to reading a slew of flash fiction. Is it Sept 15th yet?

:)  You'll be fine.  At least this forum has moderators that do a good job keeping the comments about the stories.  This is good practice for submitting to magazines, too.

Oh I'm just terrible writing short form. You know how it is: you create something, you do the best you can, then you send it out into the world and watch things happen to it...

...hey, this isn't my paper bag. What's that smell?

Good luck to everyone who entered!  Slightly less luck than me anyway...  :)

Got mine in just under the wire.
It wasn't really a story, just a half-baked idea with no ending until my fingers typed it.
I'll be happy if it makes it passed the first round, but I don't expect it to win.
But it was fun to write, and I know that at least two other people will enjoy reading it, and that's good enough.
