Job Description A large specialty crop operation in the Northwest region of Pennsylvania is looking to add a hands-on agronomist to their team to help support field operations, crop planning, and sustainable production practices. Entry-Level or early career Agronomists encouraged to apply!!!
Key Responsibilities: - Assist with the development and execution of organic cropping plans, including potatoes and other specialty crops
- Provide daily agronomic support during planting, cultivation, scouting, fertility, and harvest phases
- Collect and interpret soil and tissue sample data; make nutrient recommendations based on findings
- Support integrated pest management strategies aligned with organic certification standards
- Maintain and troubleshoot farm equipment and machinery; coordinate basic repairs
- Communicate agronomic updates and recommendations with team members and management
- Contribute to field trials, data collection, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Horticulture, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience in production agriculture
- Demonstrated interest in organic farming and specialty crop production (potato experience is a plus)
- Mechanical aptitude; experience operating and maintaining farm equipment
- Strong observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Attributes: - Prior experience in organic systems, especially potato production
- Experience with field scouting, crop planning, and harvest operations
- Background in basic mechanical repair and equipment maintenance
