Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT)

We are seeking an experienced Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT) to join our team. This role provides the opportunity to work on State, Local Government, and private projects , primarily in the transportation sector, alongside multidisciplinary teams.

About the Role

The LSIT plays a crucial role in assisting licensed Professional Land Surveyors (PLS) with land surveying tasks and projects. Responsibilities include data collection, fieldwork, calculations, and ensuring the accuracy of survey work. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience and advance their career in land surveying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Work: Operate surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS units, and levels to conduct land surveys. Collect field data and ensure precise measurements.
  • Data Processing: Assist in managing and processing survey data, including calculations and adjustments.
  • Boundary Surveys: Support boundary survey efforts, including researching property records, setting survey monuments, and preparing survey plats.
  • Topographic Surveys: Participate in topographic and site surveys for engineering and construction projects.
  • Construction Staking: Assist in construction staking activities by providing layout information to contractors.
  • AutoCAD/GIS: Utilize AutoCAD and GIS software for drafting and mapping tasks.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of field notes, survey data, and project documentation.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all surveying activities adhere to industry and company safety standards.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with survey teams, engineers, and other professionals to achieve project goals.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, equipment, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS software, and other surveying applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and local surveying regulations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
  • LSIT certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
