Let's try this again.  Here is the old poll thread to look at for reference, but that poll has been frozen.  Please vote for this one.  I found the option to allow voters to change their votes, so if we end up adding more we won't have to mess with reseting votes.  Whew, I made this much more difficult that it should have been.  Sorry for the confusion.

It is, for me, all about the Shumway.

Are we sure there's no alien in Red Dwarf?  I've only watched the first series but I could swear I saw something non-human (that wasn't Cat) in previews for a later series.  It looked like it had a faceted domed head I think.

Every life form that they ran into on RD was either descended from Earth creatures (Cat), or some species of Gelf (genetically engineered life form) that had been created by humans.

I'll just go back to being silent again now.

Then you need to vote for him in this new poll.  Poor Alf has no votes.

Sounds like Kryten, who was a human-built robot.

As I am often reminded by my fence-loving/furrener-hating associates... there are aliens on Earth, so The Cat could be considered one as his ancestor was an emigre. ::)

(Of course, you probably don't want to start the poll over again just for that technicality.)

probably don't need to be added, i can't imagine anyone voting for them, but you got me curious and i spent a little time looking around:

Angelo, Troy Garland, Zorak/Brak, Chode McBlob/Whip/T'nuk Layor

I would vote for Chode.  I love Tripping the Rift although I wish it could have retained the profanity and nudity that was in the pilot.

That pilot was brilliant.  The sheer vehemence Chode was able to put behind the profanity always makes me laugh:)

I thought Six of One looked better in that one too.  I liked the bob haircut and the eyes that glowed white with no irises or pupils.

In spite of the hotness that was Sally Solomon, I had to vote for Uncle Martin.

Uncle Martin is the declared winner!

Rightly so.

Doctor Zoidberg came in Second, with Mork taking third.
