Create a limerick, haiku, poem, etc about your favorite sci-fi book, podcast, tv show, movie, etc.

Post your submissions here.  We'll find a way to narrow it down to 10 and put it up to a vote.

Anyone know how late we can order from Poddisc and get it shipped in time for the holidays?

A Babylon 5 haiku

Sacrifices made
Now the third age of mankind
Shadows and Vorlons gone

This is he first Limerick I've ever written and I did it in about 4 minutes.  Please be kind.

There once was a boy from Tatooine,
Whose power was really quite keen
He blew up a base,
Way up there in space.
Who knew he was son of a queen?

There once was an aide from Centauri,
Who worked for Londo Mollari,
He did as was told,
But one day grew bold,
And said "This time you've gone too farry!"

My first limerick, as well

Came up with a name for the contest:  ZAthras's Random GiveAway or ZARGA for short.  Going to accept submissions until 12-11-08 so I can get the poll up for final voting on 12-12-08.

Arrangements can be made for delivery if the winner is uncomfortable giving me their shipping info.

For disclosure purposes, Escape Artists is not involved with this contest other than the fact that I'm holding it on their boards.  I figure it is a way to Feed the Pods and do something nice for the community.   If one of my entries wins, I will give the prize to 2nd place.

So far, N-sh is the winner.  Don't let it be that easy, or He might start thinking He is Divine!

My favourite ever limerick is from WWI:

There once was a woman from Ypres
Who was shot in the cheek by two snipers
The sounds that she played
Through the holes that they made
Beat the Argyll and Sunderland pipers!

There once was a guy called Steve
Who found it quite hard to believe
That when he started a podcast
Buying SF, not bombast
He found that he just couldn't leave!

There once was a guy called Dick
Who was tired of people taking the mick
Of his unfortunate name
Not his only claim to fame
And armed himself with a Brick!

There once was a bloke called Mike
Who wrote stories that were easy to like
When a critic from the forum
Said he didn't like the decorum
He found himself impaled on a spike

There once was a guy named Gaiman
Who wrote stories about demons and shaman.
That's as far as I've got.

There once was a being named N-sh
With heretics he often would cl-sh
If needing his aid
A request may be made
Be sure to always send c-sh

The Ranger we'd seen most often
His enemies just couldn't off him
He gave up his life
Would've made her his wife
Ivonova should've just boffed him

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me... Wait, I've heard that somewhere before.

How do you fight a bully that can un-make history?

There once was a lone robot on earth,
Who stacked up and sorted its dearth,
When his new love found vegetation,
He followed her to a space station,
Now there's hope humans will conquer their girth.

The Bugger queen feels sorrow

In space, Doctors fire

Hunh.  I always thought it was, "Klaatu verata nikto".

I don't know what Swamp's entry is referencing.

Keep 'em coming, everyone!

This ( http://www.poddisc.com/collections/frontpage/products/escape-pod-collections-1-to-6-dvd-edition ) is the prize, it will have a custom message on it.  I think I can get the winning entry, not sure what kind of limitations there are.

That would be Wall-E, the recent disney pixar film.

I'm confused.

Swamp's entry wasn't about Ender's Game, and RedHotSwami's post would be more about the Ender Saga than just Ender's Game.

Swamp was not talking about Ender's Game. I have read the Ender Saga and I know that does not describe the plot- instead it describes the plot of Wall-E, unless I am greviously mistaken. However I am unsure whether there is another creation where a robot on the ruins of Earth gives a plant to another robot (who the first robot is attracted to) and this results in a trip to a satallite, where the two robots encounter massively fat humans. I haven't read every SF book in the world, but I'll be willing to bet that there isn't another plot exactly the same as that.

I thought I cleared this up already, but the following entry was about Wall-E:

If I were to write a limmerick about the Enderverse, I would probably reference Ender's Shadow--There once was a small boy named Bean...

A scrawny kid named Paul Atreides
Was a product of zealous witch ladies
Jessica's Ultimate payback
Paul = Quizatz Haderach
But the Golden Path made him afraides.

It took his own son Leto II
To do what Emperor Paul couldn't do.
So he joined with the worm
For a 3,500 year term.
And had Duncan assist with sebuku.

But thinking machines still had a plan
To exterminate every last man
Humanity's price:
To eliminate Spice
But Dune was ruined by Brian.
